What is permanent hair transplantation using the FUE technique?

Hair transplantation with the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) technique is a permanent hair transplant surgical method that moves hair root cells to be transplanted in the desired area. A small 0.8-1.2 mm drill head is used to drill around the hair follicle.

The hair transplant program is a medical procedure that relocates strong hair follicles from the back of the head and transplants them into areas with hair loss, thinning, or baldness to redefine the hairline with even, natural density.

This group of procedures precisely addresses the hair concerns many people worry about, through 2 internationally standardized techniques: the FUE hair transplant program, which uses a small punch tool to relocate follicles one group at a time, and the Long Hair (Non-Shaven FUE) hair transplant program, which can relocate follicles without shaving the back of the head so the hair looks continuously long immediately after treatment. What’s the difference between the FUE and Long Hair hair transplant techniques?

The standard FUE technique usually requires shaving or trimming the hair short at the back of the head to extract the follicles. With the Long Hair (Non-Shaven FUE) technique, the doctor uses a special tool to extract the follicles while the hair is still long so right after the transplant the hair looks longer and thicker, with no shaving needed.

After hair transplant surgery, will the wounds be clearly visible, and does it hurt a lot?

During the procedure, local anesthetic is used so you won’t feel pain. The wounds from extracting follicles with the special tool are very small pinpoint dots, which gradually scab over and fade naturally within 1–2 weeks with no long linear scar like the old surgical method.

After the hair transplant, will the hair fall out again, and when will results show?

In the first 1–3 months, the transplanted hair will gradually shed temporarily as part of the hair cycle (shock loss). After that, the strong follicles will start continuously producing new hair to replace it, and you’ll see a clearly full, dense hairline within 6–12 months after treatment.

What should I do and be careful of during the first week after the hair transplant?

In the first 48 hours, do not pick, scratch, or firmly touch the grafted area. We recommend coming in to wash your hair and have the wounds treated at the clinic as scheduled. You should avoid sleeping face-down, avoid activities that cause heavy sweating, strenuous exercise, or sauna for about 2 weeks, to prevent the follicles from dislodging.
